Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ScribbleWords (the "Service"), available at scribblewords.app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms take effect on May 12, 2026.
2. What ScribbleWords is
ScribbleWords is a vocabulary learning app designed for students in grades 5 through 12. We deliver one new word a day, along with short reading passages, quizzes, and a personal notebook that tracks the words you have studied.
The Service is provided as a learning aid. It is not a substitute for classroom instruction, standardized test preparation, or a tutor.
3. Eligibility and parental consent
ScribbleWords is intended for learners aged 10 and up. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must consent before you create an account, as required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). See our Privacy Policy for details about how parents can review or delete a child's data.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials private and for activity that happens under your account. Please:
- Provide accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep one account per person — don't share accounts.
- Let us know promptly at [email protected] if you suspect someone else has used your account.
We may suspend or close accounts that we reasonably believe are being misused or that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users or anyone else.
- Attempt to access another user's account or non-public parts of the Service.
- Scrape, copy, or systematically download our content for commercial use.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service except as permitted by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading it or sending automated traffic.
- Use the Service to do anything illegal or to violate someone else's rights.
6. Content and intellectual property
The vocabulary entries, illustrations, quizzes, and other educational content in ScribbleWords are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own learning.
You retain ownership of the information you provide — your name, grade, goals, interests, and reminder preferences. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and display that information back to you within the app (for example, greeting you by name on the Home screen) and to use it to personalize your experience.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to keep the content accurate and the app running, but we do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will improve test scores, grades, or any other specific outcome.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScribbleWords and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100) or the amount you paid us for the Service in the prior twelve months, whichever is greater.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of the page and, where reasonable, notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
