Sham

A sham is something that looks real but is actually fake or deceptive, like a poorly made toy that pretends to be something special but doesn’t really work the way it should.

• The advertisement for the new video game seemed exciting, but after playing it, I realized it was a complete sham, offering nothing more than flashy graphics and no real gameplay.
